Horticulture training and qualifications opportunities at Bordesley Green Forest Garden

Bordesley Green Forest Garden, based in Birmingham, is in talks with Solihull College regarding free or subsidised horticultural training and qualifications opportunities for residents. Bordesley Green Forest Garden

The training has three tiers; Award, Certificate and Diploma. The Award is a fairly basic qualification and could be achieved in a matter of weeks, with the Certificate starting at intermediate level and the Diploma an advanced qualification. Anybody who is unemployed or in receipt of a benefit of some kind may be entitled to enrol free of charge, with a simple commitment of one day a week required of participants.

These qualifications offer participants a pathway into formal horticultural employment, as well as providing them with an opportunity to be outdoors working with other people. Participants will be part of a team contributing to a ground-breaking project to create one of the largest urban forest gardens in the West Midlands.

Courses start in September but we need people to register interest ASAP in order for the project to proceed. Following expressions of interest, we will arrange a formal Q&A event with Solihull College so that people can get more detailed information.

Please contact Project Co-ordinator, Andrew Walton, or call 07966 397 856 for more information and to register your interest.
